The Sheiks boy’s soccer team advanced to the City Section semifinals in a playoff game on February 26.
This marks the first time in quite a few years the team was able to achieve this feat. Last year’s team failed to do so, getting eliminated in the first round of playoffs.
The Sheiks began their journey in the playoffs with a game against USC Hybrid High School, ultimately destroying the Trojans, 7-0. In the second round, the Sheiks were once again triumphant, defeating Alliance Gertz-Ressler High School, 2-0.
In the quarterfinals, with the stakes high in the hopes of making it to the semifinal round, they faced Arleta High School, eventually beating the Mustangs, 2-0.
This season’s victories mark the further the team has made it in the championship circuit in years. The team has a lot of fresh talent this year, and seniors are trying to prove themselves before their last season ends, driving the fuel for the team’s success.
